Maybe they look huge, but they are made for the 416-8B

Excellent work, simply gorgeous cabinets! A couple of questions if you don't mind: When did you start using the Raal and how does it integrate with the rest (better than the Heil)? How did you design the mid-horn?

I have tried several JBL tweeters, Pioneer, Heil, but the combination of the Raal with this little horn tweeter, which I made adjustable, was exactly what I wanted.

The horn is as you can see on the pics the EV HR60, which I covered with epoxy mortar to get a more solid body.
The horn sounds really very nice with this modification.

I do NOT CARE what you use..but if you try EXACTLY ONE device then advocate it as "the best buy" yer gonna get holes poked in your balloon.

If you are gonna claim "best buy" try a number of devices, then post the disclaimer it was the best you tried IN YOUR OPINION.

Speakers look good though.

Ahhh, glad to hear you have a good match with the high end. I am still experimenting.

The EV horn was recommended to me by another local guy as mating very well with Altec CD's. I might give that a try.

After 3 weeks enclosure tuning, ports and more or less damping material, they are playing, and how!! I'm very satisfied!
The bass is strong and fast, very nice midrange and of course the tweeters are doing very well.

Configuration: model 19 crossover (a little modified); for the LF section I use Superior Z-caps, in the MF & HF section Obbligato Gold Premium Caps. Resistors standard Jantzen ceramic resistors and all coils are Northcreek 10 and 12 AWG.
Speakers/tweeters horn; 416-8B bass speakers, horns EV HR60 (covered with about 5 mm. epoxy mortar) drivers 291 with 8 ohm diaphragms, some very small old horntweeters (brand?? the seller told me; made by WE, but without name or logo) and on top Raal 70-10 ribbon tweeters.

Amplifier: Graham Ingle 300B push pull/TJFullmusic 2x20 Watt
Preamp: Densen Beat B200
DAC: MHDT Havana/Bendix tube/Hifi tuning fuse
CD Transport: Technics Z-1000
Turntable: Linn Sondek LP12/Hadcock arm/Denon cart
Cables/interconnects: Graham Ingle - Siemens Cilindric Fuse Cartridge - DSS NZ 4000 Netzfilter
